Can I Have Polyphonic Ringtone On My Cell phone?
The ringtone that can be played by any of the mobile phones in the present market is the polyphonic ringtone. Polyphonic ringtones are the ringtone which are slightly better than the monophonic ringtones. They can be played back only by the mobile phones which have the capability to play 16 separate tones. Polyphonic ringtones are better than the monophonic tones as they can provide sound that is close to the real music and contains multiple sounds in single frequency. Most of the mobile phones have this feature according to the present market days.
The development of the cell phones has lead to the development of the musical formats that can be played in the background of a cell phone. The polyphonic ringtones are the ringtones that are introduced next to the monophonic ringtones. The person who is using the mobile phone which has got the facility to play the monophonic ringtone would have to upgrade in order to play the polyphonic ringtone. There is a proper difference that would separate the two types of the ringtones.
The monophonic ringtones can play only a simple sound at a time and the polyphonic ringtone can play more than one sound at a time which is why the sound is better and much complex. The most basic type of ringtones is monophonic ringtone which are otherwise known as RTTTL ringtones. These were the types of ringtones introduced in the older mobile phones, for example, Nokia 3310. The reason that they are known as monophonic ringtones is that they can make only a simple sound at a time. Every node or the sound is placed in a single frequency and in a continuous manner hence they produce a melodic but very simple sound. This is why the sound from these monophonic files is very abrupt and unconvincing.
The polyphonic ringtones are more complex when compared to the monophonic ringtones. These ringtones cannot be composed with the same software in the monophonic ringtones but the new software helps you to compose and edit a polyphonic ringtone. The polyphonic ringtones are close to the type of original sound which can be found on your CDs, DVD, mp3 players. But the sound is not all that close and also it can play the normal ringtone such as drums, piano, violin, etc. when all these sounds are added together then they produce the sound like the original ringtone. The other factor about it is that not all the ringtones are polyphonic and some are added together to make it sound like a polyphonic ringtone. There are may be 40 notes in a single frequency and this is compatible for only certain mobile phones. The ones which are compatible are known as 40 voice polyphony or the 40 tone polyphone mobile.
